Naming the IBC
The name of Belize IBC should be in Latin alphabet, but may be in any language. For instance, more and more companies are incorporated in Chinese language and with Chinese documentation, containing Latin transcription.
Name restrictions are applied in the following cases:
- for the names that have been previously incorporated with existing company, or are similar to an existing name so much that it may cause confusion;
- for the names that may seem undesirable or offensive in the opinion of the Registrar;
- for the names suggesting the patronage of Belize Government;
- for the names including words such as royal or imperial.
The names requiring consent or licence are as follows: bank, building society, savings, loans, insurance, assurance, reinsurance, trust, trustees, Chamber of Commerce, university, municipal or their foreign language equivalents or any name in English or a foreign language that may suggest association with the banking or insurance industries.
Suffixes to Denote Limited Liability are: Limited, Corporation, Incorporation, Société Anonyme, Sociedad Anónima, Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung or the relevant abbreviations.
