Seychelles
Seychelles is a group of islands in the Indian Ocean, most of which are situated 4 and 5 degrees south of the equator. Time zone: GMT+4
It is an Independent Republic within the British Commonwealth, with population of about 80,000 and long tradition of political stability and democracy. The main branches of industry were primarily tourism and commercial fishing, but now Seychelles have quickly expanding offshore financial services industry. In 1994, Seychelles enacted the legislation allowing to develop the offshore financial services industry: International Business Companies Act 1994, laws regulating offshore trusts, offshore banking, offshore insurance, international shipping and aircraft registration. In 1997, they adopted legislation providing for Seychelles mutual funds.
Favourable tax policies and free trade zone laws are also in effect, encouraging inward investment. It is rapidly developing now, especially in the hotel industry. Further steps for offshore industry development include the enactment of new laws providing for low tax holding companies, which will benefit from double taxation avoidance agreements, zero tax limited liability partnerships.
As offshore industry was initiated quite recently in Seychelles, there is comparatively greater number of company names available than in some other jurisdictions. You may choose your own company name, and we will check its availability, or you can see a list of approved names available.
The islands have a modern telecommunications network, provided by AirTel and Cable & Wireless.
The competition ensures an excellent level of communications, as both companies provide fixed line and mobile phone services. There are two leading Internet Service Providers (Atlas and Kokonet) providing rapid development of internet coverage.
